ID wins an Energy Global Award for the Guizhou water project

We are pleased to announce that ID just received an Energy Globe Award 2009.
It is a "National China Award" that honor the hydraulic project implemented by ID, entitled "When water brings economical oportunities, education, hygiene and health to China". The Energy Globe Award is one of the most prestigious world award. It grants projects that are
examplary in terms of resources protection and/or renewable energies dissemination.

This project for water access ran from 2002 to 2009 in the district of Weining, in Guizhou, one of China's poorest province. Its goal was to allow isolated populations that are usually living in precarious conditions, to have access to a better quality of water, closer from
their homes.

The project has improved life conditions of about 20.000 persons thanks to the construction of more than 30 wells, 112 tanks for rain water catchment in areas where water is very seldom and more than 40 km of water conveyance red. In addition, local management comities were trained in order to guarantee installations maintenance. Families and school children could receive hygiene and environmental trainings.

Today, due to lack of fundings, we cannot carry out new constructions nor new trainings. Nevertheless, we keep on checking through water quality regularly and we keep in touch with management comities. Through our biogas activities, we still visit on a regular basis intervention sites.

The demand for higher volume and higher quality of water is still topical, in particular following the dramatic 2009 drought. This demand joined to the relevance of our action recognized by this Energy Globe Award convince us of the necessity to renew this action and therefore to continue to look for financial partners and donors.

Today, the major part of ID's activities in China take place in Yunnan and Guizhou provinces. It involves projects in the field of renewable energies (biogas et *wood saving ovens*) and its aim is to enable families to get more energetical comfort, save time and money. In other
words, we intend to improve living conditions in these forgotten regions of the country helping at the same time the environment protection.

In between 2002 and 2009, the Water project has been supported by the following partners: Lord Michelham of Hellingly Foundation , Frères de Nos Frères Association, Ensemble Foundation, Poitou Charente Region, Sigma Foundation, the French Embassy in China as well as numerous
individual donors. We want to thank them all for what they have contributed to and we also want to thank all the employees who have been working on the project.
